In August, Blue Cares attended the (PAL) Police Athletic League’s championship baseball games at the Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. With the help of a few volunteers, we packed up the Blue Cares van with food and chairs in the early morning and made our way to the stadium. As the baseball games began and the parents looked upon their children, we set up a booth nearby. There, we cheered on the talented boys and girls until the games ended. After, the children lined up to receive their ice cream bars and additional bottles of water. Many SAPD officers were out as well, grilling burger patties to feed the baseball players and their families in 100+ degree heat. The event was a successful one for everyone involved!
The PAL program is currently ran by SAPD officer Danny Zamora who has proven to be a leader in the community in regards to giving back and assisting low-income and underprivileged children and we are so proud to partner with him in programs such as the PAL program. He is truly making a difference in the community, working tirelessly as a police officer and as a mentor. Giving back is something Officer Zamora cares about and so do we.
Blue Cares is heavily involved in programs all across the city of San Antonio, where we go above and beyond to care for and provide assistance to children of families who may not be able to afford the funds to purchase sports equipment, uniforms, or even food to eat over the weekend. Created by the San Antonio Police Officers’ Association, we have worked closely with government and educational institutions, non-profit organizations and other businesses to serve the community and give back.
If you are interested in providing a service for underprivileged children of San Antonio or San Antonio police officers, feel free to contact us at (210) 822-4428.
