Who We Are
Blue Cares is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the community outreach program of the San Antonio Police Officers Association (SAPOA). Our mission is to provide year-round services and assistance to underprivileged, low-income, at-risk children and their families.
To achieve our goals, Blue Cares works with local governmental and educational institutions, small and large local businesses, and other non-profit organizations. Blue Cares is primarily made up of three programs.
Every day, San Antonio Police Officers work hard to not only serve and protect our community, but to also give back. Giving back is what Blue Cares is all about.
In the line of duty, police officers constantly see families that are in need and without basic necessities. Blue Cares is our way of showing our support, but we cannot do it alone. We need people like you to help us continue to positively impact San Antonio’s underserved communities.

Project C J
Project CJ (Caring for Juniors) helps meet the nutritional needs of children by providing weekly home food packages for Title-One elementary schools.
In addition to these programs and services, Blue Cares also organizes and sponsors other projects throughout the year. To fund these efforts, SAPOA holds several fundraisers a year, but they also welcome direct tax-deductible contributions and in-kind donations from businesses, organizations, and the local community.
Blue Cares and the San Antonio Food Bank partnered together for Project CJ to ensure children have enough healthy snacks and food options during their time away from school and on weekends.
Blue Santa Program
SAPOA Blue Santa Program brings joy to children during the holidays. Blue Santa gives toys, food, clothes, and in-kind donations to children from low-income families.
Blue Cares Scholarship
SAPOA Blue Cares Scholarship supports the college ambitions of deserving and qualifying students who wish to continue their education. It is named in memory of Officer Patricia Calderon, the first female officer to be killed in the line of duty.
